Why Did Everett Become Fabulous Again
Your Last Flavour to Take hold of the Seattle Tempest in Everett
The Seattle Storm are back in Everett one time again. With what is planned to be their terminal season at Angel of the Winds Loonshit in Downtown Everett before they render abode back to Seattle side by side twelvemonth when their home court at Climate Pledge Arena opens.
I caught a recent game thanks to some complimentary tickets from Bloodworks NW. I didn't donate blood for the free perks Bloodworks often gives out, but I was thankful for the gift.
Live in Everett co-founder Tyler Chism joined me for the June 22nd Pride Night game as the Storm took on the Washington Mystics (of Washington DC). It was my first WNBA basketball.
I'm not what you lot would call a "sports person" past any means, merely I loved beingness able to attend a game right in Downtown Everett. Not only are the commutes and crowds more enjoyable in a smaller setting in my opinion, but nosotros were even able to walk to the game and avoid parking hassles altogether.
We plant our seats just in time for tip-off. The game was neck and neck right from the first.
Before the one-half, the Storm recovered from most a ten signal spread. The energy was palpable, growing exponentially equally the game went on. And it wasn't just the intensely close match-up fueling the fiery fans, merely also the Pride one-half-time dance party with DJ Ricki Leigh amongst all of the other jumbotron games and giveaways certainly didn't hurt either.
In fact, there was then much music and merriment, I think the game would be enjoyable for many non-sports fans akin. Especially considering how fast-paced and high-scoring basketball is, the action was non-stop all night.
Just cheque out this video to see some of the highlights for yourself:
And we can't forget about the food and drink of class. Angel of the Winds Arena served up some decent food and drink options. I was bummed Major League Pizza wasn't open, but Blackness Bean Burgers proved to be a skillful runner-up. Despite their lack of sauce (note to cocky: ask for more sauce next time), they were quite tasty. And reasonably priced at nearly $ten. The burger paired well with my Elysian IPA and added that much more than enjoyment to the game.
By the cease of the 4th quarter, with 32.ix seconds left in the game, the score was 83 to 85 with the Mystics in the lead. The Storm was positioned well to endeavour and necktie the game or go for the win.
I was biting my nails and jumping up and downward. The energy was through the roof.
In the end, the Storm couldn't quite brand the last couple of plays they needed. The Mystics took the win by just a few points.
All in all, it was a fantastic experience. I was skeptical about going since I'one thousand not a large sports person, but at present I'thousand ready to become dorsum. In-person events are fun in general, merely now that they're finally happening once more, they're more fun than ever.
If you're able, I highly recommend catching a Seattle Tempest game in Everett … while you nevertheless can.
